The Victorian Melanoma Service (VMS) is one of Australia’s largest multidisciplinary treatment services for melanoma. Our team of expert doctors, researchers, nurses and staff are focused on research and treatment innovations that are instrumental in changing the future of melanoma treatment.
The VMS was established in 1994 by Prof John Kelly. Through clinical trials and research, we can develop new opportunities for advancements in melanoma diagnosis and treatment.
Melanoma research is also conducted by Medical Oncology, in partnership with the Victorian Melanoma Service.
We are committed to finding better ways to treat people with melanoma. Through clinical trials and research, we can study innovative ways to treat melanoma and find new ways to detect and prevent it.
Research programs at the VMS have a specific focus on prevention and early detection of melanoma. We are at the forefront of ground-breaking research, including using artificial intelligence and melanoma surveillance photography.
The VMS Clinical Trials team are leaders in their fields, with decades of Australian and international experience.
A/Prof Victoria Mar is the Director of the Victorian Melanoma Service at The Alfred and Adjunct Associate Professor at the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Monash University.
Prof John Kelly is a consultant dermatologist at the Victorian Melanoma Service at The Alfred in Melbourne, a multidisciplinary treatment service for melanoma.
Dr Alex Chamberlain graduated from Monash University with Honours in 1993 and was awarded Fellowship of the Australasian College of Dermatologists in 2005.
Dr Yan Pan graduated from Monash University in 2007 and became a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists in 2014.
Dr Wenyuan Liu is a consultant dermatologist at the Victorian Melanoma Service. She has been affiliated with the service since 2003 taking part in both clinical research and patient care.
Dr Hugh Roberts is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists and is the Principal Dermatologist at Peninsula Dermatology.
