Alfred Health Radiation Oncology is a major service with treatment facilities at The Alfred (ARO) and LaTrobe Regional Hospital, Gippsland (GRO).
Clinical research in a radiotherapy setting looks to improve patient treatments, care and outcomes.
We do this by conducting research on new treatments, new equipment and new ways of working.

A groundbreaking approach to treating stage four cancer has given new hope to some patients diagnosed with the life threatening disease.
Melbourne woman Debbie was diagnosed with primary breast cancer in 2006, and had been classified as stage four since 2008.
When 31 year old Lizzy Maric woke up in the middle of the night in May this year feeling faint she immediately knew something wasn’t right.
An international study looking at whether high and very tightly controlled doses of radiation can cure cancers previously considered incurable is in progress at The Alfred, with the first patient completing treatment in the trial.
