Lung Transplant

View health professional information

We look after people with respiratory problems who are either requiring a lung transplant, or who have had a lung transplant.

What we do

Our team is multi-disciplinary and we specialise in the medical, social and psycho-social issues that people with severe lung disease encounter.

Who we care for

If there are no other suitable treatment options, you may be suitable for a lung transplant.

Before you are able to access this service, your GP needs to refer you to a respiratory doctor.

If the respiratory doctor feels that your condition warrants a lung transplant review, they will refer you directly to the Lung Transplant Service.

We care for people throughout Victoria as we are a state-wide service. We also offer transplantation to patients from South Australia and Tasmania, who have severe lung disease.

How to access this service

Accessing this service

Your specialist at The Alfred or other treating hospital must make the referral to our service. We will contact you with an appointment time.
