ReCHARGE: Online self-management of cancer-related fatigue

Fatigue is a common and distressing long-term effect of cancer treatment and significantly affects quality of life. It is a complex problem and medications are mostly ineffective. The management of fatigue therefore represents a critical unmet need for cancer survivors.

Our project aims to reduce the burden of fatigue by developing and evaluating an interactive online self-management program. Through this interface, survivors can access comprehensive information and a range of strategies to improve fatigue based on best evidence and established guidelines.

The 12 week online intervention will be evaluated in a randomised multicentre trial in patients with moderate to severe fatigue who have completed treatment for a haematological malignancy within the past 3 to 24 months. Participants will be randomised 1:1 to participate in the CRF program or to receive routine care as a wait-list control.

Funding

Funding for this project has been provided through The Victorian Cancer Survivorship Program (VCSP) an initiative of the Department of Health and Human Services.
