Update on operational changes
Alfred Health is making some operational changes to ensure we can continue caring for the most critically ill in our community as the number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalisations continue to climb.
These changes include deferrals of some elective surgeries and procedures, limits on outpatient appointments, and the introduction of N95 masks for visitors to wards.
Alfred Health will continue to carry out clinically urgent surgeries. These include Category 1 surgeries, which will be performed within their clinically recommended 30-day window.
It is essential that emergency services like our trauma, transplant and burns services are maintained. Alfred Health will continue to prioritise patients with cancer and cancer associated needs.
Where arrangements can be maintained for patients with lower priority categorisation, they will.
Some short and same day procedures such as cataract surgery, endoscopy will also be maintained at the present time.
If you are a patient affected by these changes, there is no need to contact the hospital - our patient services team will be in touch with you shortly if your planned date for surgery is to be changed.
Once again, thank you to our patient community for your continued cooperation and understanding during these continued challenging times.
