What we do

We provide an evidence-based service to optimise your health, nutritional status and quality of life by:

  • undertaking nutritional assessments
  • prescribing suitable diets and nutritional supports
  • providing counselling and education
  • providing ongoing monitoring for those at risk

We have staff at all three hospital sites. Each of our departments offers a variety of specialised services which can respond to your specific needs.

We provide quality care by:

  • Leading nutrition-related quality initiatives and research across Alfred Health
  • Playing a key role in Nutrition Strategy which governs nutrition standards across the Alfred Health

Food service

The Nutrition and Dietetics Department and Food Service work together to cater for the special dietary, religious and cultural requirements of our patients. Dietitians conduct regular audits to ensure delivery of a high quality meal service. Find out more about food options when in hospital.

Who we care for

We care for:

  • inpatients at all three hospital sites
  • outpatients who have been referred from a clinical service within Alfred Health
  • people in the community whilst under specialised programs (such as HARP)
  • people in the community who are referred to the Caulfield Community Health Service or the Community Rehabilitation Program
