Early Intervention Mobile Outreach Service (EIMOS)

What we do

We provide intensive outreach mental health case management to clients, their carers, and families struggling with, or at high risk of, mental or behavioural disturbance.

In addition we provide outreach support to schools, NGOs, and other agencies working with children and young adults or their carers and families, where required.

We see clients who:

• require assessment and treatment for complex mental health disorders, which cannot be adequately provided by other community-based services, or by centre-based CYMHS teams
• require a more flexible approach to engagement and treatment, which may include visiting in the community, and more intensive support
• are aged between 4 and 24 years if they live in the inner south catchment area, and between 4 and 17 years if they live in the middle south catchment area

The service provided by the Alfred EIMOS might include assertive outreach with a versatile approach to engagement and assistance. We focus on intensive intervention to empower you and your support network. EIMOS clinical staff engage and provide care over several phases.

This includes:

• proactive engagement and completion of a comprehensive assessment
• collaborative care planning
• treatment which might include medical, psychological, social and educational intervention
• case closure planning

EIMOS also provides the CASEA program (CAMHS and Schools Early Action). The CASEA program is a primary school based program designed to help children, families and schools with children’s social, emotional and behavioural development. It was developed by the Department of Health and Human Services in consultation with the Department of Education and Training and the Catholic Education Office.

EIMOS will begin working with schools in February 2017.
