Blood clots

View health professional information

We care for patients with blood clots in their veins, within Melbourne and regional Victoria.

What we do

We are a group of specialist doctors with experience in managing people with blood clots and their treatment with blood thinners. Our expert team provide comprehensive care for people with blood clots and clotting disorders at all stages of the patient journey, including in the diagnosis, acute treatment and ongoing follow up.

Blood cots usually form in the leg and are called deep vein thrombosis (DVT), clots can break loose and travel up to the lungs, causing a pulmonary embolism (PE). We aim to treat blood clots to reduce the risk of the blood clots travelling to the lungs.

Importantly, we are also actively involved in clinical trials and research to better understand why people develop blood clots, the optimal treatment for blood clots and managing their complications.

Who we care for

As well as people with DVT and pulmonary embolism (PE), we also care for patients with blood clots in veins in unusual areas that require further testing for tendencies to form blood clots.  Our state-wide service treats patients across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
