AFLW player and La Trobe University physiotherapy student Libby Birch has gained new skills and experience during her placement at The Alfred, while keeping up with her training commitments with the Melbourne Demons.
A traumatic brain injury in July 2017 left 48-year-old Mark unable to move or communicate. After eighteen months of care and support from Alfred Health staff, along with his own strength and determination, Mark is now active and social, and he’s been invited back to hospital to mentor other patients.
For Melbourne-based high school teacher, David Schenkel, the road to recovery from an acquired brain injury has been a long one but, buoyed by rehabilitation and a passion for making music, he continues to improve each day.
