About Alfred Health Pharmacy
Alfred Health Pharmacy is focused on delivering the best quality medication management for our patients. We strive to provide world-class care to patients and support the future of healthcare through strong programs in research and education.
Our dedicated staff work side-by-side with doctors and nurses to ensure that our patients receive the full benefit from their medication therapy. Many of our clinical pharmacist have post-graduate qualifications specialising in the complex medical conditions that are treated at Alfred Health.
The services provided by the pharmacy department include:
- Prescription review, medication dispensing and patient education
- Clinical medication management services for inpatients and in outpatient clinics
- Preparation of specialized medicines
- Support for clinical trials
- Education of pharmacy students and interns
Clinical pharmacy
Clinical pharmacy is the core of Alfred Health Pharmacy. Over 70 clinical pharmacists across four sites are allocated to medical units, enabling interdisciplinary care to be delivered alongside medical, nursing and allied health staff.
Centre for Medication Use and Safety (CMUS)
The Centre for Medicine Use and Safety integrates academic and applied research to address medicine use and safety issues in the home, community, hospital, residential aged-care facility and their interfaces.
