Aboriginal employment

Alfred Health recognises the importance of creating a culturally diverse and supportive workplace for Aboriginal people.

We aim to increase Aboriginal employment and education at Alfred Health and encourage Aboriginal job seekers to apply for opportunities advertised in Careers.

Aboriginal Employment Strategy

As part of our Reconciliation Action Plan we are developing an Aboriginal employment strategy which focuses on:

  • increasing employment opportunities for Aboriginal people
  • valuing and supporting Aboriginal staff
  • professional development, such as mentoring and education.

Alfred Health's Aboriginal Employment Strategy will be available here once complete.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student Enrolled Nurse Cadetship Program

The 2017 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student Enrolled Nurse Cadetship Program offers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Enrolled Nurse students studying a diploma of nursing, a chance to complete their studies while being employed part time at Alfred Health.

The cadetship at Alfred Health focuses on helping cadets develop aspects of nursing and employment. While completing work placements, the cadets will perform nursing tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse appropriate to their scope of practice.
